CHAPTER 145: July 25, 2026 Assignment and Book Review: WHEN I KILL YOU by B.A. Paris.

August 17, 2026

WOODBURN, IN to WOODRUFF, SC: 860 miles (612 loaded + 248 deadhead).

Saturday July 25th, truckers work on weekends too. If the wheels are not rolling, we’re not making money. Both of these facilities are 24/7. I started my day at 11:00am with the pre-trip inspection of the truck as my previous work day ended at 11:30pm. Trucking is not a nine-to-five job either. Deadheads tend to be shorter than this one, but as anything else in life, there are always exceptions. I drove five hours to get to the shipper passing some impressive wind farms along the way. I arrived at the shipper at 4:00pm. The load I was picking up was not ready and the empty trailer I arrived with needed to be swept. I drove to a nearby Love’s Truck Stop swept the trailer and had a Big Mac meal for dinner as I waited for the call to come pick up the loaded trailer. I arrived back at the shipper at 7:30pm, left at 8:30pm and drove six hours to a truck stop in Kentucky that I know well and tends to have parking even late at night. I arrived at 2:30am with a quick stop for fuel and to scale the load which came in at 69,380lbs below the maximum 80,000lbs allowed by DOT Regulations.

Sunday July 26th, I started my day at 12:30pm with the pre-trip inspection of the truck after the mandatory DOT Regulations Ten Hour Break at the end of a trucker’s workday. I picked up a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich that are so good at the diner there. I drove six hours to the consignee and arrived at 7:00pm facing some traffic on I-40 that is still under reconstruction from damages by Hurricane Helene. Afterwards, I drove to a nearby Speedway Truck Stop and shut it down for the night at 8:30pm.

BOOK REVIEW: When I Kill You by B.A. Paris (2026), THRILLER – RATING (*****)

There’s no doubt what the title of this book is. A psychological thriller that has non-stop suspense because the killer is making clear what their intention is and its also quite amusing.

Nell Masters is hiding a secret that has destroyed her life. She changed her name and has few friends. She recently met a man and things are looking better for her. Maybe all her grief was in vain but that’s not the case. She has a stalker and she fears she’s now going to pay for the sins of her past but she’s not the only one hiding secrets of their past.

Very entertaining with a surprising ending.
