BROWNSTOWN, MI to NORMAL, IL: 430 miles (400 loaded + 30 deadhead)
Friday July 24th, I started my day at our terminal as their was a problem with the trailer on a new assignment that should have been done the previous day but resulted in bringing it back to the terminal for repairs. My day started at 8:30am after a shower with the pre-trip inspection of the truck then I proceeded to fuel it and run it through our truck wash. The shipper was a thirty-minute drive and I arrived there at 10:30am. As I was leaving the terminal so was a Local Driver and in the photo below it is clear the difference between the trucks. Theirs have a smaller cabin since there’s no bed which makes them easier to maneuver.
This is a one-day trip due to the short distance. I drove seven-and-half hours arriving at consignee at 10:00pm with a couple stops along the way. I shut it down for the night at a nearby Love’s Truck Stop at 11:30pm and needed to do Creative Parking.
BOOK REVIEW: The Silent Wife by Karin Slaughter (2020), THRILLER – RATING (****)
A psychological triller with many twists and turns that keep the suspense going from the get-go. A prison riot evolves into something much greater as a convict claims to have information that exonerates him from his murder conviction and points to a serial killer at large.
Will Trent, GBI Agent, and Dr. Sara Linton, GBI Forensic Pathologist, start reviewing a fourteen-year-old case based on the convict’s information. A case that Sara’s late husband, Sheriff Jeffrey Tolliver, oversaw personally. This brings back old memories for Sara who is now in a relationship with Will. The tenth book in the Will Trenton series but can be read as a standalone.
Overall very entertaining but some of the murder scenes are quite graphic.
