CHAPTER 152: August 6, 2026 Assignment and Book Review, YOU DESERVE TO KNOW by Aggie Blum Thompson.

August 31, 2026

CHICAGO, IL to Mason, MI: 253 miles + errands (220 loaded + 33 deadhead + $100).

Thursday August 6th, I completed my previous assignment at 11:00am and had started my day at 6:30am EST. Then I had to help out our company with some errands for which I got paid $100. From the last consignee I had to drive forty-five minutes to the facility of one our clients and pickup one of trailers that needed to be returned to the leasing company located twenty-four miles from that facility. After dropping off the leased trailer I had to bobtail to a different facility where our new trailers were located. I picked up one of those and then proceeded to this shipper which was located thirty-eight miles from there. The errands took four hours. I was starving and fortunately passed by a truck stop I’ve been to many times that features a Charley’s Cheesesteak franchise.

I arrived at this shipper at 5:00pm EST and along the way I saw a collision of two passenger cars on a local street on my route. I looked pretty bad as the air bags of one of the cars had deployed. This load was a drop-and-hook but it still takes some time. I left the facility at 7:00pm EST and drove three hours until I shut it down for the night at 10:00pm. I was able to exceed the Fourteen-hour DOT Regulation for a work day as I spent over two-hours on off-duty status at the original consignee of the day. This is allowed by DOT Regulations due to the Split provision.

Friday August 7th, I started my day with the pre-trip inspection of the truck and drove an hour to the consignee where I arrived at 11:30am.

BOOK REVIEW: You Deserve to Know by Aggie Blum Thompson (2025), THRILLER – RATING (*****)

A psychological thriller with many twists-and-turns that maintains the suspense throughout with interesting surprises. Three couples in the wealthy suburb of East Bethesda, MD, have their worlds turned upside down when one of the husbands is brutally murdered.

Gwen and Anton Khoury are the main characters. He’s a one-hit-wonder that wrote a hugely successful Best Seller but has not been able to write a second novel in years. Aimee Stern and Scott Crowder are their neighbors and closest friends. Lisa and Marcus King are the other neighbors. Each of them hide secrets from their past that haunts them and play an important part of the narrative.

Overall very entertaining with a surprising ending.
