Wednesday August 5th, this shipper was the same facility as the previous consignee. This makes life so much easier. I arrived at noon dropped the loaded trailer and picked up the new loaded trailer. This facility is normally a drop-and-hook. I left the facility at 3:00pm because the trailer was not ready. I had to scale the load because they tend to be heavy and in Ohio hazmat loads must enter all the weigh stations. I didn’t have time for a proper lunch but I picked up a hot dog, some snacks and a red bull to hold me off until dinner. I drove six hours and shut it down at one of the Illinois Travel Plazas that is an hour outside of Chicago at 11:00pm.
Thursday August 6th, normally the Ten Hour DOT Regulation break would force me to start my day at 9:00am but the delivery appointment was for 8:00am EST and I was still an hour-and-a-half from the consignee. There’s an exception to the Ten Hour Rule called a Split that allows for a shorter rest period that in the same day needs to be complemented by the rest time that was avoided. It sounds complicated and it is. The period have to be either seven-three or eight-two being that the larger portion needs to be completed in the Sleeper Berth modality. I started my day at 6:15am with the pre-trip inspection of the truck and headed out to the consignee where I arrived at 8:00am passing the Chicago White Sox’s stadium along the way. After completing the minimum allowed unload time of ten minutes I went Off Duty for three-hours to complete the mandated time of the Split as I was only in the sleeper berth for just over seven-hours.

An adrenaline packed espionage novel with a tiny bit chance of success but entertaining nonetheless.
Alexis Frost, a CIA agent deep undercover has infiltrated the network of a ruthless arms dealer living in Monaco. Her true identity has been compromised and she needs to be extracted. Normally the agency would disavowed her existence and left for dead. However, there’s one person, Dereck Vesper, that specializes in these apparent suicide missions and the agency calls him into action. Dereck needs to infiltrate the arms dealer fortress and battle an army of his security personnel to accomplish the mission. His first attempt fails and the agency orders him to back off. Dereck disregards and comes up with a plan to rescue Alexis during the famous Monaco F1 Grand Prix.
Overall very entertaining though the elaborate scenarios are as improbable as finding a needle in a haystack.
