ELK GROVE, IL to DAYTON, OH: 335 miles (319 loaded + 16 deadhead)

Wednesday August 12th, I arrived at the shipper at 11:30am and left at 2:00pm as it was a life-load. They are located near Chicago’s O’Hare airport and I caught sight of a plane soon after takeoff. I drove for seven hours passing some beautiful wind farms and was slowed down several times for traffic. I made a couple of stops along the way for fuel and dinner. I shut it down at 12:15am.

Thursday August 13th, I started my day at 10:15am with the pre-trip inspection of the truck after the minimum ten hour break following DOT Regulations. I drove an hour to the consignee arriving at 11:45am.

BOOK REVIEW: The Fourth Option by Jack Carr (2026), THRILLER – RATING (****)

A fast paced action packed thriller of a former Navy SEAL & CIA operative investigating the suspicious death of the son of a former colleague.

Chris Walker, suffering from PTSD, and depressed is about to bite a bullet when he gets a call from the wife of his late CIA operative partner. Her son, Connor Staub, died of an overdose but she thinks he was murdered because he was investigating the opioid epidemic in New Orleans. Soon Walker is in the midst of a killing spree avenging Connor’s death with the help of his faithful dog and Connor’s girlfriend.

Entertaining though very unlikely as the odds Chris faces are insurmountable.
