SISSONVILLE, WV to NEWPORT, MI; 510 miles (310 loaded + 200 deadhead).
Monday July 6th, I arrived at the shipper at 8:30pm. My day had started at 9:00am then I drove an hour to the previous consignee. The unload took five hours so I left there at 4:00pm and drove three-and-half hours to this shipper with a short stop to rest. The drive goes by Charleston, WV, a the beautiful Capital Building with its gold dome is clearly visible from the highway. Loading at this facility was without any delays and I left there at 10:00pm. The problem now was finding parking late at night and West Virginia doesn’t have as many truck stops or Travel Plazas but they have built some very nice ones in the past years. Therefore I planned to make it to Ohio where there are more of them which offer free showers. Because the unload took more than two hours where the truck was idle then I was able to take a Split. This permits to surpass the Fourteen Hour Work Day DOT Regulation as long as the driver takes a minimum of seven hour break in Sleeperberth afterwards. Not all companies allow their drivers to make use of this legal provision but fortunately AD Transport does. After leaving the shipper I drove for three-and-half hours with a short break to rest and shut it down for the night at 1:30am. Therefore, my work day was sixteen-and-half hours.
Tuesday July 7th, I started my day at noon after the minimum Ten Hour DOT Regulation Break and having taken a shower beforehand. I performed the pre-trip inspection of the truck and drove two hours to the consignee with a short break to fuel where I arrived at 2:30pm.

A psychological thriller with many smart twist and turns that keep the suspense throughout the entire narrative.
Ben and Veronica are a happily married couple with twin five-year old kids. He’s a Congressional aide and she’s a math professor at Georgetown University. Mexican by birth she became a US Citizen but avoids taking about her childhood despite the insistence from her husband. One day Ben receives a cryptic message from Veronica professing her love and then disappears. Ben is worried when he learns there was a mass shooting around the area where she customarily takes a run during her breaks at work. Things turn worse when police believe that Veronica was the shooter.
Very entertaining with a fast pace and new elements of the narrative spring out like mushrooms after a rainfall. A surprising ending puts all the pieces together.
