MAUMEE, OH to MACON, GA: 828 miles + HAZMAT (743 loaded + 85 deadhead + $100).
Wednesday June 24th, I arrived at the shipper at 7:00pm. The loads here are normally set for pickups after 6:00pm. We do a lot of their shipments and today there were three AD Transport trucks leaving with loaded trailers. My day started at 9:00am as I had to finish my previous assignment and then stopped at our terminal to fuel the truck and take a shower. Delivery for this load was for Friday at 8:30am and the trip requires roughly twelve drive hours so I was in no hurry. I left the shipper at 9:00pm and drove half an hour to the Sheetz truck stop in New Baltimore, OH, that has easy parking and 24/7 food service.
Thursday June 25th, I started my day at 9:30am and drove ten hours with a stop along the way for lunch and to comply with the Thirty-minute Break DOT Regulation which requires a driver to stop for at least thirty consecutive minutes before reaching the eight hours of drive time. I faced some traffic on the route and shut it down for the night at 9:30pm.
Friday June 26th, I started my day at 8:00am after the minimum Ten Hour DOT Regulation Break. I drove three hours to the consignee arriving at 11:30am. The trip actually took thirteen and half hours instead of the expected twelve. I had never been to this facility and it was a funky layout. There was a tight driveway that ran parallel to the building then at the end we make a U-turn and back into the dock on the side of the building.
