CANTON, MI to STATESVILLE, NC: 573 miles
Monday June 8th, this load was at our terminal so I saved some time. I started my day with a Mexican breakfast at a nearby restaurant. I fueled the truck and left the terminal at 1:00pm and drove ten hours with a couple of quick breaks along the way, including to scale the load because I was transporting engines which are heavy. The truck weight in at 72,840lbs out of the maximum allowed by DOT Regulations of 80,000lbs. I shut it down at 12:30am at a small truck stop that I’ve been to before.
Tuesday June 9th, I started the day at 12:30pm after the minimum ten hour DOT Regulation break. I drove thirty minutes to the consignee and arrived at 1:00pm.
BOOK REVIEW: Pieces of Her by Karin Slaughter (2018), THRILLER – RATING (****)
This book has so many sub-plots that best to have a pad and pencil on the night stand to keep track of who is who and what is going on.
Laura Oliver and her thirty-one year old daughter are spending the day at the mall when a deranged man starts shooting people in the diner where they are having lunch. Laura springs into action disarming and killing the perpetrator. Was it a mother’s protective instincts, her super-spy reflexes or something else? From there the subplots start surfacing. Andrea starts to figure out that her mom is not the typical suburban housewife but she’s not the only one putting the pieces together. There are a slew of secondary characters to keep track of but all fit nicely into place by the end.
Overall entertaining.
