GREENFIELD, OH to LANSING, MI: 355 miles (295 loaded + 60 deadhead)
Thursday August 13th, I had time between the previous delivery and this pickup. It was an hour drive between the two and somewhere along the way I stopped for lunch and a shower. I had a breakfast meal as eggs, bacon, sausages and pancakes were favorable to a burger. I arrived at the shipper at the scheduled time of 5:00pm for the pickup. I could have arrived earlier because it was a drop-and-hook but I was hungry and really needed a shower.
This is a short trip and should take six hours but I managed to do it in five-and-a-half because I didn’t hit any traffic and it was mostly main highways. I arrived at the consignee at 11:00pm.
BOOK REVIEW: Happy Wife by Meredith Lavender and Kendall Shores (2025), THRILLER – RATING (****)
An amusing thriller overlapping with a romance story.
Nora Davies is a twenty-eight year old barely making ends meet. She takes a part-time job at a fancy country club as a swim instructor. One day she helps a fourteen year-old girl in the ladies locker room and meets her handsome wealthy forty-five year old divorced lawyer father, Will Somerset. He falls heads over heels for the stunning swim instructor despite the age difference. They elope on the beach of a tropical island during a mini-vacation. His law partner is furious that she didn’t sign a prenup and the other country club wives see her kind as a threat to their marriages.
It’s a modern Cinderella story until the morning after Will’s 46th birthday party when he goes missing. Days pass and it’s starting to look like foul play and Nora becomes the prime suspect.
Very entertaining with many twist-and-turns and subplots.
