ROUTE: Windsor, CT to Brownstown Twp, MI: 699 miles (699 loaded)
The shipper on this assignment was the same as the last consignee so there were no miles of deadhead. The delivery was an appointment on Wednesday 01/07 at 11:30 so there was no need to rush back. The gladhand seals were worn so I had to change them which is relatively easy to do. The I-84 Diner were I spent the night on Sunday was on the way back so I decided to stop there for dinner. Since the distance from the diner to consignee was about ten hours it was best to keep driving on Monday. After dinner I drove two-and-half hours to the Sheetz in Buckhorn, PA.
The consignee was 20 minutes south of our terminal. If the delivery appointment would have been early morning then I would have spent the night at a truck stop in Toledo. I stopped for dinner at Truck World in Ohio just past the Pennsylvania border and a four hour drive from the Sheetz in Buckhorn. Since the appointment was at 11:30 then I could spend the night at our terminal and make a quick visit to my dentist. Fortunately, they had an opening at 09:30. When I arrived at the dentist they informed me that the procedure would take two hours but I only had one. They took some x-rays and I made an appointment for the 19th.
The consignee’s docks were inside a building which was easy to get into but the space inside was tight and very hard to maneuver.
BOOK REVIEW: The Wrong Woman by Leanne Kale Sparks (2022), FICTION – RATING (****)
Well written and has many twist-and-turns to maintain the suspense. Both protagonist are well described, likable and have good chemistry between them. A romance developing in the future books?
A serial killer is on the loose. The protagonist best friend is missing and then found dead. The side stories are a little hard to bear but they fit well into the narrative. Though the crime is explained the full scene is not completely developed so leaving some ambiguity. The killer’s perspective described early in the story geared to another one of the suspects: misleading or the next book plot?
Overall entertaining.
