ROUTE: Prichard, WV to Monroe, MI: 487 miles (301 loaded + 186 deadhead)
09/25/25: Picked up a load in Prichard, WV at 18:00 EST going to Monroe, MI. The route is on I-23 which has few truck stops, but there’s a Sheetz in New Baltimore, OH off I-75 that has ample parking and a 24hr food service. It was going to be a tight to get there before my 14hr clock expired and my 11hr driving clock. I had driven 2hrs in the morning to get to the consignee, 3hrs to get to the shipper and it was a 5hr drive to New Baltimore. I made it with one minute left on my 14hr clock. I had a salad with Cajun chicken and a strawberry yogurt parfait.
I made the delivery on 09/26 and my next assignment was scheduled for Sunday 09/28, as I needed to be at our terminal in Canton, MI in order to get my DOT Medical examination done by 10/04 when it expired. I would do a 34hr reset as I had been recapping my 70hr clock since 09/02.

Well written and funny with self-deprecating humor and sarcasm. Good behind the scenes of the world of advertising.
I didn’t find the main character very likable. Too self-centered with many moral flaws.
One major downfall on the plot was not explaining how the siblings managed to live after the father left them and the mother dies.
