Chapter 3 – 09/24/25 Assignment and Book Review: Finding Me, A Memoir by Viola Davis

October 2, 2025

ROUTE: Hendersonville, NC to Walton, KY: 421 miles (360 loaded + 61 deadhead)

09/24/25: Picked up a load in Hendersonville, NC at 16:00 EST. The town name rang a bell, but I couldn’t remember why. We go to so many places that it’s hard to keep track. Then I saw a TransTech Student Driver van and it came back to me. That’s where I learned to drive a truck back in January 2022. Unfortunately, it was a live load and took a little over two hours so by the time I left the shipper the TransTech office was closed, if not I would have stopped by to say “Hello”.

The delivery was scheduled for 09/25 in Walton, KY. It’s hard to find parking late at night but I know a truck stop on I-75, 49er Truck Stop, that has a 24hr diner and parking late at night. I arrived around mid-night, found a place to park the truck and had a bacon cheeseburger with fries. The next morning I had a bacon-egg-cheese sandwich that was delicious.
