LANSING, MI to GREENFIELD, OH to CANTON, MI: 540 miles
Thursday August 13th, I arrived at the shipper at 11:00pm because it the same as the previous consignee. It was late and I was low on hours so I drove an hour to our terminal in Canton that was an hour away arriving at 1:00am.
Friday August 14th, I started my day at noon with the pre-trip inspection of the truck then fueled, added DEF and washed the truck leaving at 1:00pm. I drove a little over four hours arriving at the consignee at 5:15pm. This was a drop-and-hook but it still takes a little while. I left there at 6:30pm and drove half-an-hour to a nearby truck stop for a quick bite. In the parking lot there was a flat-bed truck hauling a tank. Pretty cool things I see on the road. From there I drove four-and-half hours back to our yard in Canton, MI. A Local Driver will deliver the load to the consignee on Monday August 17th.
BOOK REVIEW: Time of Death by Lucy Kerr (2016), THRILLER – RATING (****)
An entertaining fast moving thriller with many twist-and-turns. Chicago General Hospital ER nurse Frankie Stapleton returns to her town of Stillwater after twelve-years of absence. Her sister is going through a difficult pregnancy and begs Frankie to come over to help her.
As Frankie arrives to the Stillwater hospital where her sister is delivering she encounters a man sitting on a bench outside the ER apparently suffering from a heart attack. The ER is overwhelmed with multiple wounded individuals off a bus accident. Frankie takes matters in her own hands but she doesn’t belong to the staff so her actions are not sanctioned. The man is treated afterwards by the hospital staff and is recovering but then dies unexpectedly. The hospital blames Frankie and want to start an investigation that could lead to her losing her nurse’s license. Frankie needs to figure out ASAP who is responsible for the man’s death if she wants to continue being a practicing nurse.
Overall very entertaining.
