Thursday June 4th, I arrived at the shipper at 1:30pm. This is a 24/7 facility and the assignment was a drop-and-hook. It should be relatively fast and took about an hour but as I was doing the inspection of the trailer I noticed that it had a flat tire. Fortunately, this shipper did not have any restrictions about a minimum of miles to travel after leaving the facility so I was able to go the Love’s truck stop nearby and get it fixed there. It still set me back two hours but there was a McDonalds there and I was able to grab a Big Mac meal while the tire was being replaced as it had internal damages and was not fit to travel. I drove five hours and shut it down at 11:00pm after a quick stop for fuel along the way.
Friday June 5th, I started my day at noon with the pre-trip inspection of the truck. This delivery was a live unload appointment at 7:00pm so I could sleep an extra couple of hours. I drove six hours and made the delivery at the scheduled time.
BOOK REVIEW: My Husband’s Wife by Alice Feeney (2026), THRILLER – RATING (*****)
Buckle up! This book will take you for a wild ride. The story reads like an episode of The Twilight Zone combined with the plot of the movie Unknown with Liam Neesom. I was so confused about what was going on but I trusted Alice Feeney would put it all together by the end and she did.
Eden Fox is married to Harrison Wolfe and they have an eighteen year-old daughter that is in a care facility because she suffered an accident at age eight years-old. They live in a small town on the English coast on the outskirts of London. She goes for a run before an art exhibit displaying her works. When she gets home an hour later there’s a woman in her home pretending to be her and her husband is going along with it.
Olivia “Birdie” Bird is a London police detective that has been transferred as Chief Detective of this quiet town. Sargent Luke Carter is the town’s police officer who has been passed over with the appointment of Birdy to the post. There are other characters that add to the many subplots including a company that can predict with complete accuracy the day of a person’s demise.
Eden is trying in vain to proof her identity but cannot and avoids being arrested for stalking and breaking and entry to what she thinks is her husband and home. The next day both Eden Fox women go missing and it’s suspected that one of them jumped off a nearby cliff known as a common suicide spot but which one of them and where is the other one? Birdy and Carter are trying to make heads from tails of this bizarre story.
Very entertaining with a shocking ending.
