CHAPTER 70: February 17, 2026 Assignment and Book Review: GOOD BAD GIRL by Alice Feeney.

February 23, 2026

ROUTE: Youngstown, OH to Lansing, MI: 346 miles (291 loaded + 55 deadhead)

The pickup on this assignment was scheduled Tuesday 02/17 at 13:00. I had started my day at 08:30, so technically my 14-hour clock would end at 22:30. This was a live-load and it took just over two hours to complete, therefore satisfying the requirement for a Split, which stops the countdown and gives back the two hours. I had a bowl of cereal in the truck for breakfast and was hungry. Fortunately, there was a Petro truck stop five minutes away and I stopped for a proper meal.

I headed out to the consignee at 16:00. The drive was only five hours, which for truckers is nothing. I should make it by 21:00. However, it doesn’t always work that way. An hour into the drive I became extremely tired, there was no way I could drive another four hours. They emphasized in trucking school that the only thing that overcomes weariness is rest. Not coffee, power drinks or lowering down a window for fresh air. I pulled into a Travel Plaza on I-80 and took a 30 minute nap. I arrived at the consignee at 21:30 but my day wasn’t over. My next assignment was a pickup an hour away.

BOOK REVIEW: Good Bad Girl by Alice Keeny (2023), FICTION – RATING (****)

This is a testament to mother-daughter’s relationships. There are four main characters whose lives are intertwined. Edith and Clio, mother-daughter; Frankie and Patience, another mother-daughter duo.

Clio’s baby daughter was abducted from a supermarket when under the supervision of Edith. That obviously ruined her life and the relationship with her mother. Patience also has a tumultuous relationship with her mother and runs away soon after turning eighteen. The paths of the four women cross in the story with the backdrop on two murders, three suspects and one victim at the nursing home Edith was tricked to stay by her children. There are many twists and turns and consequences as per Alice Keeny’s books.

Overall entertaining and suspenseful.
