ROUTE: Romeoville, IL to Solon, OH: 427 miles (374 loaded + 53 deadhead)
This is a short assignment of roughly six drive hours but after four consecutive long ones it’s OK. Also, I needed to make my way back to Michigan for a dentist appointment on Saturday 02/21. The assignment was to pickup at a Red Bull Regional Distribution Center and deliver to a smaller local one. Liquid is heavy and though the trailer was not full the load weighed 43,000lbs.
On my way to the delivery I stopped for fuel and caught a glimpse of a beautiful sunset after picking up dinner at Taco Bell at the TA Truck Stop. I made the delivery the next day at the appointment time of 09:00.
BOOK REVIEW: Famous Last Words: a novel by Gillian McAllister (2025), FICTION – RATING (***)
Captivating premise but there were so many flaws in the plot that it seemed like a fantasy fiction novel set in a parallel universe where the sense of logic cease to exist. Mildly entertaining therefore the three stars, if not it would be a solid two.
Camila and Luke are married with a nine-month baby that is starting daycare the next day so she will be able to go back to full time work as a literary agent. Luke is a no-show to take their daughter to daycare. There’s commotion in midtown London with a gunman holding three hostages in a warehouse. The police come inform Camila at her office that Luke is part of the hostile situation not as a hostage but as the deranged gunman!
From there it goes downhill faster than a GS alpine skier competing in the Winter Olympics. Part II starts seven years later and as new characters are introduced the wackier it gets. Clearly there’s going to be a Hollywood happy ending, how could it not?!
