ROUTE: McElhattan, PA to Wixom, MI. Total miles: 609 (433 loaded + 176 deadhead)
I was in Auburn, NY which is upstate NY near Syracuse. The best route are smaller country highways going North to South. These were not too bad as some can be very narrow or go through many towns with traffic lights.
Once I did the pickup, a location I have been many times, the trip to Michigan is very straightforward, mostly I-80. Traffic in certain spots comes to a strandstill as they are doing construction. I barely made it to one of my go-to stops: the Petro in Girard, OH. Across the street is a Indian food-truck that makes a great Chicken Tikka Masala.
I delivered on-time and I was given a load going towards Chicago and then picking up another going to Dayton, OH. I reminded my DM that I requested Home Leave for the 10/04 weekend and I was trying to get there by Thursday 10/02 in the afternoon. He took me off those loads and instructed to come back to the terminal, which was just 20 miles, and they were working on getting me a load headed to the East coast.
BOOK REVIEW: The Phoebe Variations by Jane Hamilton (2025), Fiction – RATING (**)
I could not get into this book. It was confusing with too much of heavy descriptions of everything and anything. The pace was slow and depressing.
To drop academically so violently is hard to believe and the core of the story. Though having dinner with my daughters afterwards they explained that the difference in placing in by hundreds of a decimal and they believed the drop should have been more dramatic.
